Amenities

Vermilion Dam Lodge offers its visitors a great many amenities in addition to our superbly maintained cabins. Below, you will find descriptions of several of these that set VDL apart from its competition.

The Beach

Protected well in the bay near the main boat dock is a nice sand beach. The water drops off very gradually and provides a safe area for smaller children who like to play in the sand. Directly next to the beach is volleyball net, and fire pit Which is popular for evening bonfires.

The Dam

Water from Lake Vermilion spills out and cascades down through the east side of the resort’s property then opens up into the Vermilion River. From there the river runs north 42 miles to Crane Lake and beyond to Hudson Bay. This provides the beauty and sounds of the whitewater rapids for our guests to enjoy. Below our whitewater rapids on the Vermilion River we have a dock equipped with a boat And canoes for those of you that would like to explore the wilderness of the Vermilion River.

The Lodge

Our lodge sits right on the water’s edge of Lake Vermilion and is central To the resort. The lakeside of the lodge has a large deck for our guests to enjoy. We Designed our lodge to accommodate a wide variety of our guests needs.

The Pool

Vermilion Dam Lodge has outdoor heated pool. The pool area is equipped with lounge chairs for relaxing and watching the kids. The pool is located central To the resort and provides a nice view of the lake. The pool is open from The first week of June through Labor day.

Dining Room

Our lodge is equipped with a private dinning room that will seat up To 25 people. We offer American plan/home cooked meals to groups in spring, summer and fall.

The lodge game room is open during the summer months. Video games, pool table, candy machine, pop machine, satellite TV. all provide things for the family and kids to do.

Boathouse and Baitshop

Our main boat dock is equipped with a Boathouse that features covered slips, electrical outlets, gas pumps, bait tanks, tooling and supplies for marine service, and a concrete boat ramp for launching.

General Store

Our Lodge is set up with a general store during the summer, fall and spring. You will be able to purchase clothes, souvenirs, groceries, fishing tackle, maps, and ice cream.

During our summer season offer daily activities at no extra charge the whole family can participate in!

Sunday

Bonfire by the beach (at dusk)
The resort staff will start a fire in the fire pit next to the beach. Come meet your neighbors for the week and trade fish stories. Marshmallows will be provided for roasting.

Monday

Canoe trip – 9:00AM
Sign up in the lodge by Sunday night. One of the staff will be your guide. Please bring your own life jacket if you have one, everything else will be provided. The distance covered will vary depending on the group, there will be at least one portage, so be prepared to carry what you bring including your canoe (this is very important, for only one staff member will be assisting the entire group). Bring a lunch. An adult must accompany children under 12.

Kids fishing contest – 3:00pm – Ages 1-12
Prizes are awarded for the largest, most caught, and the smallest fish. This is a catch and release event. The contest will take place on the dock in front of the lodge. Please bring your life jackets and fishing poles, however we can provide them for you.

Tuesday

Fish fry in the lodge - 6:30pm
Our resort chef will be preparing you a true Shore Lunch for dinner. Your dinner includes fish, potatoes, beans, rolls and beverages (beer and lemonade). Hot dogs will also be provided for those who are not fish eaters. Feel free to bring a dish, however it is not required.

Wednesday

Movie night in the lodge – 8:00pm.
Enjoy a family comedy in the lodge with the other guests. We will provide the popcorn and the movie.

Thursday

Floatplane rides – 11:00am
A local commercial charter service will fly in and give 20-minute rides. See all of lake Vermilion from the air. Cost of the plane rides are available at request here at the resort.

Friday

T-shirt painting – 11:00am
Our staff will assist you and your children to paint your old, or new shirts (we have kids t-shirts available in the lodge for sale) everyone will make there own wilderness t-shirts using prints and stencils. Parents are encouraged to join in and help out.
